On a bright Wednesday afternoon, September 3, 2025, Sister J. Anette Dennis, First Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, brought a spirit of comfort, hope, and love to sisters in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Sister Dennis, accompanied by her husband, Brother Jorge Dennis; Sister Nomthandazo Msane, Area Organization Adviser; and Sister Sienna Muchemwa, Relief Society President in the Germiston Ward, ministered to two families who welcomed them with open arms and warm hearts.

Her first visit was with Sister Nokubonga Dube and her family, followed later that same day by a visit to Sister Leah Khumalo and her family—both from Buhle Park, a small township in Germiston within the Bedfordview Stake. In each home, an undeniable spirit of joy and unity filled the air. The families expressed deep gratitude for the uplifting messages Sister Dennis shared reminders that the Savior knows them personally and loves them deeply.

As Sister Dennis embraced each family member goodbye, with the little ones holding her extra tight, the joy of the moment was unmistakable. Her ministry brought not only words but a promise of enduring hope and peace, leaving a lasting impression of faith and happiness in the hearts of those she met.

A Message of Light and Hope
On Sunday, September 7, Sister J. Anette Dennis was joined by President Susan H. Porter, General Primary President of the Church, as they ministered to two young women, Thato Lephakha and Mamathobi Mothebe, who are currently recovering in a Johannesburg hospital.
The young women were among the survivors of the tragic accident in Lesotho in late June that claimed the lives of six young women and four Church leaders.
Sister Dennis and President Porter brought with them a card featuring an image of the Savior holding a light, along with personal messages of love and encouragement from President Russell M. Nelson and all nine female General Officers of the Church, as well as handwritten cards from the young women’s friends back home in Lesotho.
In that quiet hospital room, they offered words of peace and reassurance, sharing the Savior’s promise from John 8:12: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
Their visit was a tender reminder that the Savior is aware of each of His children—and that His light brings hope, even in the midst of sorrow.

Her time in Johannesburg formed part of a broader ministry across the region, where Sister J. Anette Dennis, together with President Susan H. Porter, met with Latter-day Saints in Mauritius, Réunion, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe.
