Elder Sawman Machakaire

Elder Sawman Machakaire was named an Area Seventy and a member of the Third Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the April 2026 general conference.

Elder Machakaire has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Kenya Nairobi Mission, branch presidency counselor, bishopric counselor, bishop, high councilor, and stake president.

Elder Machakaire earned a diploma in law from the University of South Africa in 2012. He also earned an advanced certificate in family and human relations from BYU-Pathway Worldwide in 2017 and a fitness and nutrition certificate from Lifestyle Medicine Academy in 2026. He worked as a customer service representative for FedEx and as an operations manager for Cogent Building Services. He went on to work as an owner and a country manager for Forever Living Products Zimbabwe from 2010 to 2020. Since 2020 he has worked as chief executive officer of Global Youth and Empowerment Trust.

Sawman Machakaire was born in Mutare, Zimbabwe on March 15, 1983. He married Mary Akullo in 2008. They are the parents of seven children. Elder and Sister Machakaire reside in Harare, Zimbabwe.
